The Ancient Atlantic Tartan was designed c. 1960 by Saul Gilis of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia where it was produced commercially at his business Thistle Knit Wear. Of the many tartans Saul Gilis designed, the Ancient Atlantic Tartan was a favorite. With its prominent colours of blue, green and brown it is reminiscent of the the sea, forest and soil of Atlantic Canada. It is registered with the Scottish Registrant of Tartans. The Ancient Atlantic Tartan is 100% wool. Each item comes with an ‘Ancient Atlantic Tartan’ tag describing the significance of the colours. Yardage may also be purchased @$86.00/metre (60″ wide).
