Tim Turpin Resumé

Tim Turpin

Tim Turpin was born in England in 1961. Before emigrating to Canada Tim graduated from Secondary School in 1977 with a C.S.E. Grade 1 in Art, Craft, and Design (and a scholarship to Loughborough Art College).

He studied with Michael Coyne 1982-83 at Acadia University, Nova Scotia, and successfully completed the Foundation Year at the Ontario College of Art 1983-84 studying drawing with Aba Bayefsky. He then completed a studio apprenticeship with Hugh Eamon AOCA in 1984-85.

Tim continues to paint in oils “en plein air”. Painting and working outdoors is a passion that was first encouraged by his Secondary School Art teacher Mr. D. Smith. Tim has a longstanding fascination with the use of a single and double primary palette and the relationship of detail to a general structure. Through the use of colour and tone Tim strives to evoke a “depth of feeling” in response to the landscape that he inhabits.
